Good afternoon Sandy.

All in all it was an absolutely fabulous weekend. My in-laws are shareholders in lodge 20 so I am a frequent visitor. What I really appreciated was Zander’s willingness to take us on game drives. I have heard that some lodges don’t like going into the park as it’s too long a drive. Zander on the other hand was thrilled to take us into the park and we had a great 6 hour drive on Saturday.

In terms of the lodge, I loved it. The layout was fantastic, the huge bar fridge a great relief. In addition the constant supply of ice and the walk in fridge made it very easy to self-cater. All facilities were in great condition from the quality of the kitchen knives, to the size of the wine glasses (large which is great), to the weber braai on the deck to the various braai grids in the boma to the quality of the bedrooms. All outstanding. If there was one thing I would do if I owned it, it would be to put a bit more wind shelter around the boma. It was a windy weekend and on Friday we did get blown away with the smoke from the fire.

All in all, I loved the lodge. I will most certainly return

Many thanks and please pass on our compliments to Zander and his team.

Regards

HI Sandy

We just returned from our holidays. Firstly thank you for all your prompt responses to our queries beforehand. We had a really good time at your lodge. We were very impressed with the whole set up - the lodge was really nice and spacious, the quality of the appliances and equipment was superb, the sleeping units felt luxurious, and the cleanliness was 5 stars. Overall we managed to properly relax and enjoy our stay!.

Emma was really friendly and helpful and certainly knew what she was doing. My only bit of feedback for her is to knowledge share a little bit more regarding the animals. She was really good at responding to questions, but I felt she could have been a little bit more proactive with her knowledge of the animals. Minor feedback only, since overall she was great.

I have already and will certainly recommend your lodge to my friends. It was a fantastic experience.

Kind Regards,
Louis

Hi Sandy,

We had the most amazing time! It was such a fantastic experience, and we will not ever go anywhere else for safari again, we are already planning our trip back for next year!

Zander and Marike are amazing, they went out of their way to make sure that we had the best time! Zander's knowledge of the park and animals is brilliant and really knows how to find those animals!

It's also nice to see that Thaba splashed out a bit more on the game vehicle, all the other lodges had vehicle envy

Directions

From Pretoria/Johannesburg

GPS Co-Ordinates:

Take the N4 towards Rustenberg. Take the R556 turnoff to Sun City. Stay on the R556 and pass the entrance to Sun City on the right. Continue for 5.11 km to the 4-way STOP in Ledig village, turn right at the intersection (onto the R565) in the direction of Derdepoort. Continue on this road for approximately 27 km through Ruighoek village (beware of potholes and stray animals) until you see the thatched Black Rhino Game Reserve entrance on the right. Sign in at the gate and either request a pickup from the gate if you do not want to drive your car on the dirt roads and we will come and collect you, or drive directly to the lodge (number 17). A normal sedan car should be able to reach Thaba Lodge without a problem.
